Administrative Contacts

Tom Tietz - Executive Director

Tom is the Executive Director of the California Nevada Cement Association. In this role, Tom is involved with and oversees CNCA’s regulatory and legislative efforts that focus on infrastructure and the environment. He also is actively engaged in the association’s mission to be an established technical resource in the region.

Tom’s career started in architecture. After receiving a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees in Architecture from the University of Illinois and practicing as a licensed architect, Tom has been working for trade associations since the mid 90’s. These associations include CNCA and the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute. He has provided seminar topics to agencies, architects, engineers, contractors and universities across the United States.

 

Terri Zemlicka - Communications Coordinator

Terri joined the CNCA in August of 2015. She serves the CNCA team in a support role, which includes overseeing social media, tracking project cost analysis, publishing our monthly and quarterly newsletters, event planning, and a wide variety of administrative duties.

Terri earned her degree in English from Cal Poly Pomona. Prior to becoming a member of the CNCA staff, Terri worked for the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute for ten years before taking time off to raise her family.

 
 

Pavements Professionals

 
 

Clay Slocum, P.E. - Director of Engineering

A licensed engineer in California and Nevada, Clay now serves as CNCA’s Director of Engineering. Since joining CNCA in 2014, he has been providing technical expertise and education to municipalities, engineers, contractors and developers to support the applications of cement in a variety of concrete pavement and geotechnical solutions.

Clay is a well-recognized pavement designer who also provides engineering support for CNCA’s geotechnical markets. He stands out in the region for his expertise in various pavement software, including AASHTO’s Pavement-ME. His background includes a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of the Pacific and Masters in Geotechnical Engineering from UC Berkeley. Clay is active in local societies including ASCE, ACI, SNCA, and APWA. 

 

 

Nathan Forrest, P.E. - Technical Director

In the role of Technical Director, Nathan provides resources, recommendations, education, and technical expertise to public agencies, design engineers, project owners, developers, and contractors.  Nathan has over 18 years of experience in the design and construction of a wide variety of residential, commercial, highway, bridge, and drainage projects.

Prior to his work with the CNCA, Nathan worked as a consulting materials engineer on numerous large Caltrans projects in Southern California. He has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Arizona and is a licensed civil engineer in the state of California. He maintains certifications from ISI, ACI, and NRMCA. Nathan also serves on prominent committees within Caltrans and the Greenbook for Southern California.

 
 

Geotechnical Professionals

 

Tyler Bodnar, P.E. - Geotechnical Markets Director

Tyler oversees the full array of CNCA’s Geotechnical Solutions for the California and Nevada markets. In concert with consulting engineers, contractors, and the staff of the Portland Cement Association (PCA), Tyler provides technical and construction expertise to support a wide range of project types.

Tyler’s background includes a bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from Cal State Chico and 11 years working in municipal government. He is a licensed engineer in CA and his experience includes a comprehensive background in project development focused on constructability and feasibility.  Tyler serves as the Technical Director for the Recycling and Stabilizing Association of CA and is active in academic research, Caltrans committees and task groups, and several societies including ASCE, CalGeo, and APWA.
